Overcoming Challenges with Technology
Based on 3E Accounting Group’s experience with Malaysia’s Movement Control Order and Singapore’s Circuit Breaker, 3E Accounting Limited was better prepared to handle the second wave of COVID-19 in Hong Kong.
By utilizing technologies like IP Phones, VPN, GSuites and the installation of scanner printers, 3E Accounting was able to maintain employees’ productivity while working from home. In addition, virtual meeting platforms like Zoom and Google Meet were utilized for regular E-Town Hall sessions, Virtual Interviews, Virtual Onboarding and CSR Initiatives. Cloud accounting software like Xero and QuickBooks Online empowered 3E Accounting to efficiently perform bookkeeping services for our clients. These technologies have enabled us to deliver the same level of customer experience to our clients whether we are working from home or in the office.
Government Support for SMPs
Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia governments have launched financial schemes to help SMPs through this difficult time. Financial schemes like salary support grants not only allow businesses to retain their talents but also to recruit new hires and send current employees for upskilling and training.
Addressing a question on the cost of technology during the panel discussion, Lawrence highlighted that now is the best time for businesses to adopt technology due to the strong government financial support. Debunking the myth that technology adoption is costly, Lawrence explained that there are many free technological services that SMPs can consider exploring to increase their business efficiency.
A Vote of Confidence in Hong Kong’s Economy
3E Accounting Limited organised the virtual opening of our Hong Kong office on schedule in July 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic due to our strong confidence in Hong Kong as an international financial hub. Hong Kong’s unique economic and geographic advantage in relation to Mainland China’s development will continue to encourage foreign investors to set up base in Hong Kong. 3E Accounting believes that this city is a strategic springboard that many SMPs can tap into for business opportunities in the Greater Bay Area.
