Hong Kong’s TV Campaign Set To Attract Global Talent
On June 5, 2024, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSAR) embarked on a mission to attract global talent. By launching a set of new Announcements in the Public Interest (APIs) via a TV campaign, Hong Kong is focusing on appealing to professionals from all over the world to settle in the region.
By producing these new APIs, the Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) initiative aims to highlight the city’s vibrant and dynamic lifestyle. Each episode centres around testimonials from nine individuals of diverse professions and backgrounds who share their own stories and reasons for choosing Hong Kong to stay in.
Hong Kong To Feature Professionals in Their API
Among the professionals featured in the APIs are former US National Basketball Association (NBA) and Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) player Stephon Marbury. He is featured in the first episode and shares how Hong Kong is a melting pot and a cultural hub; he even calls Hong Kong a “slam dunk” for opportunities. Additionally, Marbury adds that Hong Kong lacks language barriers, a hospitable local community, and wonderful cuisine.
The series will feature a wide range of international professionals. These include Da-Hee Kim, Marketing Manager for Cathay Pacific Airways Limited from South Korea, Surali Siriwardene, Chief Operating Officer of PayMe HSBC from Sri Lanka, and Robert Lay, Senior Director, Debt and Structured Finance. JLL Hong Kong of New Zealand will also be a part of the APIs. Hong Kong also featured Mainland China’s Ren Zhe, who runs his sculpture studio in the region. These professional talents unite to promote and speak on what makes Hong Kong a dynamic city of business, top-notch education, arts and culture.
API Releasing in Phases
The APIs will release gradually, showcasing Hong Kong’s unique strengths, advantages, and development opportunities. These APIs will highlight the city’s dual role as an international talent hub and a gateway to Mainland China. Through the Dedicated Teams for Attracting Businesses & Talents under the Government’s Mainland Offices and overseas Economic & Trade Offices, these remaining episodes will be launched in Hong Kong and internationally for effective promotion.
