Supporting Hong Kong Businesses
COVID-19 hasn’t been easy on businesses. The Anti-Epidemic Fund 2.0 supports relief measures worth $137.5 billion, including $81 billion Employment Support Scheme. This scheme is meant to provide subsidies to sectors that have been hit hard. The Financing Guarantee Scheme will help ease business cash flow. Eligibility requirements for the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance have been relaxed. The implementation of the MTR fare concession is an example of measures to help everyone residing or working in Hong Kong, directly or indirectly. There are many industry measures to support local businesses. The food catering industry, for example, can obtain a one-off subsidy. Subsidy schemes are available for affected business sectors from public entertainment to commercial bathhouses.
Tax Payment Deadlines Extended
It has been announced that businesses will be given a 3-month extension to fulfil their tax payments. The deadlines have now been extended. Applicable areas include salaries tax, profits tax for YA 2018/19 between April and June this year, and personal assessment tax. If you need help with your tax filing, contact us at in**@3e***.hk.
